Sports Performance Training
The Performance Division has served the elite athlete since 1984 and continues to push athletes to the next level. Rising to the next level is the athlete’s goal and constant pursuit. The process of achievement is costly and there are no shortcuts. The athlete must constantly and intentionally push themselves to grow in every area as any weakness of mind, body or soul will make the athlete vulnerable; vulnerable to competition, injury, defeat and replacement.
The athletes of today are more competitive than ever before. The opportunities for scholarships and professional athletic careers could not be more demanding. With these hurdles the athlete must be properly developed and trained. For years coaches have coined many tag-lines that champion the heart of a great athlete to help define what is required to become one. Many of these great coaches have also thought that an individual was either born with great athletic skills or not. Science now proves that the great athletes of today are no longer the ones that are simply born with it. A new paradigm is being established. We live in a day and time, where, unlike ever before, the athletes who are properly developed are the ones who create their destiny on and off the field. To constantly rise to the next level requires great character and work in every sphere of the athlete’s life.
To meet the comprehensive demands of the athlete RI believes it equally requires a comprehensive program. This explains why ROCK Institute is structured by our three divisions, Performance, Correction and the Wellness Division.
Every athlete has highly sophisticated needs that are based on their fundamental need to constantly increase in power, speed, and mastery of movement, all of which must apply to their sport. However, when the athlete’s programming is not properly “structured” the health of the athlete is jeopardized. When the health of the athlete is compromised the athlete’s performance can be seriously disadvantaged. It has long been proven that the greatest threat to an athlete’s short and long term career is injury. Most injuries originate from disparities in total strength, flexibility, coordination, mechanics as well as over training. There are other factors that create underlying weaknesses and risks for athletes that come from day to day living such as improper diet, hydration, lack of rest and poor recovery strategies. When an athlete does not have a structured, year round, approach to their training and lifestyle they put themselves at a disadvantage. In this weakened state, the body experiences subtle, yet, significant losses in balance, postural integrity, joint stability, as well as, power. In this disadvantaged state, risks are heightened and injuries become predictable.
At ROCK we believe that the majority of injuries are preventable and when the athlete is properly trained they are not only more resilient, their performance skills in speed, power, agility, quickness, flexibility, reaction, mental focus, endurance, recovery, and more are unleashed! We also believe that when the athlete does get injured, that no other sport performance company has the support systems or injury “correction” technology that we have in order to get the athlete back in the game, safely and faster than ever before, without the risk of re-injury.
For every athlete it all starts with a proprietary & concentrated 90 minute (to maximum 4 hour) Sports Performance Assessment with our State Certified Sports Performance Coaches who will precisely measure the individual’s core strength, power, flexibility, balance, endurance, coordination, foot speed, explosiveness, vertical jump, body composition, handy eye coordination and more. After our Sports Assessment is completed, ROCK Institute will be able to develop an accurate and Specific Training Plan (S.T.P.) to address the full weaknesses and needs for the complete benefit of the client. Our Sports Performance Assessments for Athletes are different from our Fitness Assessment. We evaluate each athlete based on our own in-house rating system that measures each athlete to our Elite National Competition Levels (ENCL) for every sport. To become your best as an athlete requires that you master the “performance” skills of movement. It is all about how and why you move that makes the difference.
Elite Athlete Services
RI has a rich, 29+ year history of working with elite athletes in the NFL, NBA, MLB, AVP, MLS, and Olympic Track and Field. The RI approach to strength & conditioning has set new standards in making athletes healthier, faster, more explosive, resilient and less dependent upon prescription pain killers and exploratory surgery. RI is committed to developing the total athlete with a proprietary health and performance system that is carefully built around their needs. RI specializes in creating individual-specific assessments and programs to identify and correct the hidden “causes” that impede performance and break down the athlete. The Athlete Blueprint Assessment identifies core weaknesses/imbalances in 3 major body systems that govern all human movement, power, health and regeneration. Through this proprietary process the athlete can now recover and regenerate faster than ever before. Furthermore, athletes can now be developed in a cohesive manner that allows them to accelerate strength, power, speed and resiliency in every sport-specific application where they were unable to do so before.
Junior Athlete Services
RI recognizes the need of developing the young athlete and has created a unique and complete system to empower the health, performance & resiliency of the junior athlete. Injuries for young male/female athletes are unprecedented. With competition at all time highs, our youth are training year round in multiple sports/club teams. The average 14 year old athlete of today is pushing his/her body as hard as 23+ year old professional athlete did twenty five years ago. Over-training and over-use are the most significant causes of all injuries in every sport on every level. The phenomenon of overuse is just as prevalent for the professional athlete.
RI believes that the average junior athlete is not properly prepared to handle the rigors and intensities of competitive, year-round sports. RI’s youth programs focus on developing the junior athlete to meet with her/his anatomical, mental, and emotional development. RI’s objective with every junior client is to protect them from poor habits, over-training and faulty anatomical development, which leads to injury. RI’s training emphasis is based on developing core power, balance and flexibility as well as the kinetic aspects of sport-specific strength, body control, quickness, speed, agility and coordination.
Through this process, young athletes are able to develop faster with greater core health, strength and resiliency. A safe foundation is built. Now the fast maturing athlete is prepared to move into more advanced aspects of conditioning and strength resistance where mentally, emotionally and physically they are equipped to make their maximum increase in overall strength, speed, power and athleticism.
